Karen Davila OTR/L is a board certified bilingual occupational therapist licensed in the state of Illinois. She is the founder and owner of Rise & Bloom Therapy and Consulting PLLC.

Karen lived in Mexico for 10 years where she witnessed firsthand the barriers many children and families faced in accessing occupational therapy and other essential healthcare services. Those experiences inspired her to pursue occupational therapy in the United States with a deep commitment to expanding access to quality and culturally responsive care. She believes that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, participate, and thrive, regardless of their language, background, or circumstances. Her mission is rooted in creating equitable opportunities so that every student feels supported, included, and empowered to Rise and Bloom to their fullest potential.

Karen earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2023. Since graduating, she has provided occupational therapy services across the lifespan, from infants to older adults, in a variety of settings including early intervention, schools, therapeutic day programs, outpatient clinics, and acute care hospitals.

The Rise & Bloom Approach

The Rise & Bloom Approach

🌱 Rooted in Connection & Understanding

Strong roots create the foundation for growth. We begin by understanding each individual's story, strengths, culture, and environment. Through a client-centered and culturally responsive approach, we honor all languages, backgrounds, and experiences to ensure every person feels valued and supported.

Our roots are grounded in:

  • Culture & Language: Honoring each person's identity, background, and preferred language while providing inclusive and culturally responsive care.

  • Neurodiversity: Celebrating different ways of thinking, learning, communicating, and experiencing the world.

  • Accessibility: Believing everyone deserves equitable access to meaningful support and opportunities to participate.

🌿 Rise Through Meaningful Growth

Growth happens when individuals are provided with opportunities to explore, learn, and build confidence. We use evidence-based practices, collaboration, and a strengths-based approach to help individuals develop skills that support greater independence and participation.

We help individuals rise through:

  • Play: Using curiosity, creativity, and meaningful activities as powerful tools for learning and development.

  • Collaboration: Partnering with families, educators, and professionals to create supportive environments where individuals can thrive.

🌸 Bloom Into Your Potential

Blooming looks different for everyone. We celebrate progress in all forms and believe success is defined by each individual's goals, strengths, and meaningful participation in everyday life. Our goal is not to change who individuals are, but to support them in becoming confident, capable, and empowered in their own way.
